POWER THOUGHTS
By Joyce Meyer
FEELING FEAR IS NOT COWARDLY
For
God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness,
but
one of power, love, and sound judgment.
2
Timothy 1:7 (HCSB)
When the Bible says
"God hath not given us the Spirit of fear," it does not mean we will
never feel fear. Feeling fear is part of being alive. We may feel fearful when
we are doing something we have never done before, or when obstacles seem insurmountable.
But this does not mean we are cowards; it simply means we are human. It is
cowardly only when we allow our fears to dictate our actions or decisions
instead of following our hearts.
Feeling fear is not
the same as being afraid --which means letting fearful feelings control our
actions. I might feel angry, but I can still choose not to act on my anger and
instead respond with forgiveness and love. In the same way, we can feel fear while
not letting it influence our decisions.
